History
LEAHI HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES FEDERAL CREDIT UNION was organized on October 4, 1956. It was started to offer a safe and economical place to save and borrow money. The original field of membership was employees of Leahi Hospital and the credit union and members of their immediate families.

In the 1960s Leahi Hospital ceased to be a private institution and became a State hospital. The word "Employees" was dropped from the credit union name in 1973, and in 1974 HALE NANI HOSPITAL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION merged with us. The employees of HALE MALAMALAMA NURSING HOME were added that same year. As the State continued to add to the programs housed at Leahi Hospital, the credit union in 1989, changed the description of its field of membership to include all State Department of Health and UH workers employed within the greater "Leahi Complex". The employees of DIAMOND HEAD HEALTH CENTER were added at the same time.

The credit union's name was changed again in August of 2000 to better reflect the growing diversity of the field of membership and to emph location. We are now LEAHI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.
