How to Find Us
East bound: From H-1 take the Koko Head exit. At the light (top of the exit ramp) turn right. Get in the center lane. Go straight past the fire station. At the stop sign (12th Avenue) turn left. At the next stop sign (Kilauea Avenue) turn left. Leahi Hospital is the top of the hill, 2 blocks up, on the right hand side.

West Bound: From Kalanianaole Highway take the Kilauea exit. (Do not get on the freeway). Turn left under the freeway onto Kilauea Avenue. Stay on Kilauea to the top of the hill. Leahi Hospital is on the left hand side at the corner of Kilauea Avenue and Makapuu Street (across from KCC). There is a small parking lot in front of the hospital. The credit union is located in the basement.
   
History
LEAHI HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES FEDERAL CREDIT UNION was organized on October 4, 1956. It was started to offer a safe and economical place to save and borrow money. The original field of membership was employees of Leahi Hospital and the credit union and members of their immediate families.

In the 1960s Leahi Hospital ceased to be a private institution and became a State hospital. The word "Employees" was dropped from the credit union name in 1973, and in 1974 HALE NANI HOSPITAL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION merged with us. The employee HALE MALAMALAMA NURSING HOME were add that same year. As the State continued to add to the programs housed at Leahi Hospital, the credit union in 1989, changed the description of its field of membership to include all State Department of Health and UH workers employed within the greater "Leahi Complex". The employees of DIAMOND HEAD HEALTH CENTER were added at the same time.

The credit union's name was changed again in August of 2000 to better reflect the growing diversity of the field of membership and to emph location. We are now LEAHI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.

Board of Directors
As a financial co-operative, LEAHI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected from the membership. Elections are held each year at the Annual Meeting. Each member, 16 years of age and older, is entitled to one vote no matter how much or how little that member has in shares. Any member in good standing is eligible to run for the Board of Directors. Board members are elected for a 3 year term. The Board, itself, determines who the officers are.

Supervisory Committee
The Supervisory Committee is appointed annually by the Board of Directors to serve for a one year term. The Supervisory Committee is responsible for hiring the auditors to perform the annual audit. The Committee does an annual audit of the membership and random audits of daily office functions. The Supervisory Committee is available to any member who has a problem that cannot be handled by the office personnel.

Credit Committee
The Credit Committee is elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting. Each term is for two years. The committee meets weekly to review loans forwarded to them by the staff Loan Officer.
